Draft Wet Tropics Water Resource Plan

On 26 February 2010, the Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy announced a proposal to prepare a draft Wet Tropics Water Resource Plan.

Below is the complete schedule of public information sessions for the draft Wet Tropics water resource plan. The first round of meetings starts next Monday 15 March however, note that DERM is holding a second round of meetings starting 12 April.

The department will also be available at the Innisfail Agricultural Field Day on 15 April to discuss water resource planning.

Terrain is in discussion with DERM re a role in supporting community to be engaged in the WRP process.

Water resource plans are subordinate legislation which provide the framework for sharing water equitably and sustainably between urban, rural, industrial, environmental, social and indigenous uses.
