A sum of $5.7 million is being sought by landholders in Round 4 to support 312 water quality incentive projects, totaling $15.1 million. This includes an estimated $9.3 million in cash and in-kind contribution by landholders. Almost 70% of projects are eligible for a reduced cash contribution of 25% (instead of 50%) because they are located in the cyclone affected area or the landholder has suffered a 40% or more loss of production this year. With more project applications this year and the high percentage of projects eligible for a reduced contribution, grant selection will be even more competitive than previous years. The assessment of applications is underway with the assessment panel working round the clock over a ten day period to score each application. The five panels will meet from 12-23rd September to select which projects will have the greatest impact on improving water quality running off their land. Applicants will be informed of the decisions from 16-28th September and contracts will be sent out by 28th October. |
