The prolonged wet season and cyclone in 2010-11 impacted the ability of some farmers to be able complete Reef Rescue projects in the north. Farmers with Reef Rescue grants that were affected by this wet season's events were given a six month extension to 31 December, to complete Round 3 projects.

An additional 14 projects were withdrawn at the end of last year as some landholders made the tough decision not to undertake the project due to financial concerns. The money for these 14 projects, totaling $220,970 was reallocated to the next best project applications that missed out on grants in Round 3. These landholders will also be eligible for a project extension due to the late start.
