Applications for Round 4 of Reef Rescue grants will open on 3rd May 2011. Contact your industry Extension Officer or Catchment Coordinator early to register your interest in applying for a grant. Contacts details are available on this site. http://www.terrain.org.au/programs/production/reef-rescue-wqig/contacts.html Terrain invites applications for projects that aim to reduce nutrient, pesticide and sediment run-off from agricultural land. Further information on the program and how to apply is available on the Reef Rescue pages. Applications will be accepted until 1 July 2011. Information will be updated in the coming weeks once confirmation on funding amounts and industries is received from the Australian Government. Terrain will be hosting information sessions in each of the Terrain offices, and including Mareeba and Walkamin at the Rabobank FNQ Rotary Field Day (25-26 May). Dates and venues for the information sessions will be advertised on the website and through the industry Extension Officer and Catchment Coordinator networks. Reef Rescue is a key component of Caring for our Country, the Australian Government’s $2.25 billion initiative to restore the health of Australia’s environment and build on improved land management practices. This is the fourth year of the Australian Governments five year $200 million investment to improve the water quality of the Great Barrier Reef lagoon by increasing the adoption of land management practices that reduce the run-off of nutrients, pesticides and sediments from agricultural land. |
