How it worksThe opening of the next round of funding will be advertised in the local press and on this site. Extension Officers are employed in sugar cane, horticulture, grazing, dairy and multi-cropping industries to assist producers with determining priority projects for funding applications. For projects involving waterways, Catchment Coordinators can assist you with your application. Project proposals must show they are moving to A and B level practices. ABC and D level practices are described for nutrient, sediment and pesticide management for each industry (see ABCD tables). Project proposals are assessed by a panel of five industry and technical experts to select the best projects to fund. Projects are assessed on the positive impact they will have on reducing the nutrient, sediment and pesticide loads leaving the farm. Successful applicants will enter a contract with Terrain and project works will need to be completed before the end of the financial year. Partial funds are delivered upfront and final payment is made upon an evaluation of the completed project and submission of a final report. Recipients of grants must contribute matching in-kind and cash of at least 50% of the project cost. Grants are available for one or more practice improvements. The grants are a one-off incentive and not an ongoing subsidy.
