 Cyclone Yasi devastated vast areas of Terrain NRM's footprint - the Wet Tropics - just 5 years after Cyclone Larry wreaked its havoc. Post-Larry, Terrain played an active role in recovery, supporting the community and preparing a comprehensive Action Plan. The impact of cyclone Yasi has provided this community with the unique opportunity to actively apply relatively recent experience with Cyclone Larry, improving preparedness as well as economic and personal recovery and taking a greater level of control over their post-cyclone future.Learning from YasiTerrain has secured an Industry Grant from DEEDI for a project called 'Learning from Yasi'. This project will provide advice to ensure recovery efforts use best practice and minimise any adverse environmental outcomes. The project will also capture stories of resilience from community, industry and government, showcasing the ways in which people have managed the impacts of the cyclone.
