Tablelands Area Update

with Penny Scott,
Tablelands Area Team Leader

The Tablelands Area is unique in its diversity, ranging from the wet tropical highland forests to dry lands. Supporting strong partnerships with a wide range of organisations has meant that Terrain and its partners achieve significant results.

Almost 20 ha of riparian rehabilitation (100,000 trees) has been achieved through Barron Catchment Care's Green Corridor Project. TREAT has continued its critical work on Peterson Creek. JRCMA has initiated significant rehabilitation on the North Johnstone, and local traditional owner groups are working actively on securing long-term and meaningful employment in NRM.

The Tablelands Regional Council has undertaken critical weed work. Landcare groups continue to be key players in effective NRM. Local networks such as the Southern Atherton Tablelands Revegetation Alliance provide an important forum for exchanging information and ideas.
