The Herbert River Catchment is the largest in the Terrain Region, and predominately consists of an alluvial floodplain across multiple sub-catchments. Due to the flooding nature of these sub-catchments a more holistic approach to the management of NRM is necessary in the Herbert.
The Herbert River Catchment Group (HRCG) aims to facilitate this holistic approach by providing representation from as many sectors as possible, including traditional owners, local government, conservation and industry groups. Sub-committees have been formed to strengthen ties to these groups, who not only participate, but contribute financially to the maintenance and improvement of our natural asset base.
