A dominant urban community, surrounded by agriculture, makes up the Lower Barron and Trinity Inlet Catchments, while the Douglas area has a vibrant tourism industry supported by agriculture, surrounded by World Heritage Areas of reef and rainforests. Within the modified landscape there are pressures from the urban and rural sectors on the health of soils, waterways and marine environment. Terrain is working with all sectors to maintain sustainability and the vibrant nature of the region.
