Terrain's activities are overseen by four area teams. Visit your area team page for information and a list of catchments in that area: Ten river catchments lie within the Wet Tropics region - Daintree, Mossman, Barron, Trinity Inlet, Russell, Mulgrave, Johnstone, Tully/Murray, Hinchinbrook and Herbert. Each of these areas is unique in its characteristics and in relation to the NRM issues and management responses needed to address them. While some of Terrain's programs are regional, to better support the needs of local communities and our partners we also work within these local catchment areas. At this scale, strong emphasis is given to supporting the efforts of local Catchment Management and Landcare groups. These groups are key partners in the region's NRM network and major drivers and contributors toward local NRM efforts, particularly in making things happen on the ground. Terrain's network of staff include area-based teams who are largely geographically aligned to catchment areas, working across all sectors and tiers of the local community. In addition, a team of coordinators who are based within the local catchment groups are also members of this team. These teams are integrated with and provide a range of services directly to individual landholders, local councils, Traditional Owners, communities and Terrain's other partners in these areas.
