Travellers who attended the Mission Evolve Music Festival this month were greeted by cassowary signs. The temporary signs were created by local artists to raise awareness of wildlife crossing roads during the busy festival and have been permitted by Queensland Transport and Main Roads."In creating a platform for Far North Qld artistic expression through music and arts, for kids and adults, Mission Evolve Music Fest aims to preserve all tropical territory used throughout the weekend's events. "The importance of our wildlife and tropical rainforest is not overlooked; it was accentuated throughout the show by the MC on the main stage, in our programs asking patrons to respect the site and via cassowary awareness signs. We encouraged all ticket holders to respect the lush tropical environment, whose backdrop only further enhances our own artistic activities" said Evolve's Mel Bowman-Finn. The signs were sponsored by Mission Evolve Music Fest, CRACA, Liz Gallie Graphics, Tully Vinyl Signs, Mission Arts and Terrain NRM. Terrain coordinated the project and is a community not-for-profit organisation supporting natural resource management in the Wet Tropics.
Mission Evolve Music Fest was from 7-9th October at Dundee Park, Mission Beach. Click here for page 1 and page 2 of the handout that was distributed at the festival.
