$1.6 million in grants for cyclone recovery

More than $1.6 million in industry grants are being provided to a range of industries to help in the ongoing recovery from Cyclone Yasi.

Minister for Agriculture, Food and Regional Economies Tim Mulherin said the Rural Resilience Industry Grants are part of the Australian and Queensland Governments' $20 million Rural Resilience package for areas worst hit by the cyclone.

"The grants are aimed at boosting economic recovery and helping industry to better prepare for future severe weather events," the Minister said.

"They also complement previously provided assistance aimed at individual business recovery.
