Regional bodies showcased at Conference

The 22nd annual Queensland Landcare Conference, taking place in Ayr from 20 – 23 September will showcase not only the work of regional bodies, but also their support of the landcare sector.

This year's event sees the planned 2011 Regional Body Showcase incorporated into the Landcare Conference program as a concurrent stream. With presentations from Northern Gulf, NQ Dry Tropics, Burnett Mary Regional Group, Fitzroy Basin, Condamine Alliance, SEQ Catchments, Reef Catchments, Terrain NRM, Queensland Murray-Darling Committee and Cape York NRM, the Regional Body showcase will provide a snapshot of some of the work of our Queensland regions. They're covering topics as broad as natural disaster response, compost tea, habitats in semi-rural areas, sustainable sugar, science from space saving soil, planning for good NRM and much more.

In addition to these presentations, Regional Bodies have also come on board as sponsors of the event. NQ Dry Tropics is the Premier Sponsor supporting not only with cash but also with logistical assistance. Terrain NRM, Queensland Murray-Darling Committee and Fitzroy Basin Association have also dug deep to make the event possible.

Regional bodies are also compiling a series of stories to showcase how they are helping to build a new generation of land guardians. The 14th edition of the NRM Rumble, covering this topic will be available at the conference.
