| $1 billion for Regional Development |

The Minister for Regional Australia Simon Crean announced a $1 billion five-year Regional Development Australia Fund last month. The Fund will commence allocation of grants from 1 July 2011 and is intended to focus on local solutions and long-term economic benefits and apparently only applications backed by local RDAs will be considered for funding. Mr Crean said this allocation of resources is the result of the agreement struck with the Independents last September. Further details on the fund, including guidelines and criteria can be found at: |
