Call for Capacity Building Project applications
Written by Kathryn Dryden

The Sugar Research and Development Corporation today opened a call for those involved in the sugarcane industry to put their ideas forward for a Capacity Building Project (CBP) grant.

MEDIA RELEASE - 21 Feb 2011

SRDC Executive Director Annette Sugden said CBPs are designed for individuals and groups who are keen to extend their experience and professional knowledge to be of further value to the industry.

“Throughout rural Australia there are many examples of innovative agricultural practices that can be adapted to sugarcane growing and product diversification, and many people with knowledge, systems and technology who are willing to share,” Ms Sugden said.

“We judge the success of a CBP project on whether the outcomes will deliver increased competency, a greater understanding, or be a catalyst for innovation.

“The benefit to the whole industry lies in the commitment of those undertaking a capacity building project to share their new-found knowledge and experiences widely”, Ms Sugden said.

Funding of up to $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for a group is available. Successful projects must demonstrate an ability to assist people to learn, change, or enhance their professional development.
