Myrtle rust has been found on a number of sites in South East Queensland including production and retail nurseries, public parkland areas, revegetation sites and private residences. Myrtle rust is a serious fungal disease caused by Uredo rangelii and affects plants in the Myrtaceae family including plants such as bottle brush, tea tree and eucalypts. Biosecurity Queensland is working with industry to investigate the origin of the infected plants and the current location of any plants that have been sold to the public.
