Terrain remains innovative in its approach to strategically dealing with WONS in the Wet Tropics. This is most important in some of the Aboriginal Shires... This is most important in some of the Aboriginal Shires, where distances are vast, and access is often difficult. A pilot project will provide GPS units to women in the Wujal Wujal Shire who gather yams. Lantana is encroaching on this natural food crop making it difficult to harvest. The women will use these GPS units to record outbreaks they come across while harvesting. Through GIS grid mapping this data, follow up control efforts can then be strategically directed. For more information on the project, contact Terrain's Cairns Area Team Leader, Peter Bradley via email or phone 4098 3152.
