Lower Burdekin Landcare Association has been announced as the host of the 2011 Queensland Landcare Conference, which will take place from 20 – 23 September 2011 in Ayr, just one hour south of Townsville.
Graham Anderson, Chair Lower Burdekin Landcare Association said his group was thrilled to be hosting the 22nd annual Landcare Conference in Queensland.
"Like many landcare groups, we're always looking for opportunities to extend our reach in the local community, and we can't think of a better way to do that than by bringing hundreds of landcarers from across the state to our region," Anderson said. "We're hoping to engage as many local farmers and growers as possible and we'll be running a great variety of field trips to all sorts of local destinations." The event, with the theme Generations of Guardians, will take a close look at intergenerational stewardship, how we boost youth involvement in landcare and how we learn from the past. Registrations open in March 2011, but you can nominate to deliver a presentation now. Presentations from landholders are particularly welcome and there will be special discounts available for local land managers!
