Paul Barrett, the Corporation's CEO said, 'Becoming a member is symbolic of a strengthened relationship between the two groups'.

Francis Walker (Jabalbina Yalanji Aboriginal Corporation Chairperson) handing Allan Dale (Terrain NRM CEO) the Jabalbina application for Terrain membership.

Jabalbina Yalanji is the Native Title holder for the Eastern Kuku Yalanji people situated in the northern reaches of the Wet Tropics region. Its area stretches from the Mowbray River in the south to just below Cooktown in the north.

The group showed interest in joining Terrain's membership program in order to build opportunities to better work together on Country. Both organisations aim to grow partnerships in project development and access to funding in order to achieve cultural and environmental outcomes on the Traditional Lands of the Eastern Kuku Yalanji people.

The group (along with others) has recently participated in a Wet Tropics Cultural and Natural Resource Management (CNRM) Summit held in Cairns. The Summit's purpose was to identify pathways to a more co-ordinated way forward in CNRM. Keep your eye out in the next issue of the Terrain eNewsletter for more information on the Summit.
