National volunteer week is happening in May and it's the community's chance to say thank you. Nationally there are more than 5 million volunteers which is about 34 per cent of our total population ,with the most strongly represented age group being 35-44 year olds. Country people are more likely to help out (38%) than their capital city counterparts (32%). These wonderful volunteers pour an estimated 700 million hours of service back into the community. Contact the Tablelander or the Tableland Advertiser if you'd like to nominate a volunteer 'stalwart' to be featured in the local Tableland papers.
