Bat, frog and bird calls will be monitored and animal poo collected and scrutinised as part of a Cairns Regional Council promise to protect threatened species on a major development site.
The Mount Peter area, located between Edmonton and Gordonvale is considered a priority urban growth corridor. It is expected to house 50,000 residents by 2025 and Council will be identifying species in riverbank and hillside sites to inform the Mount Peter Draft Structure Plan.
