| Go team go! - Terrain in a boat |
| From Kathryn Dryden |
|
As part of the Feast of the Senses festivities in Innisfail, Terrain had a go at racing an outrigger canoe in The Coffee Club's River Races on the North Johnstone River. They dodged crocodiles by avoiding tipping the boat and showed hard-core strenghth and speed whilst having loads of fun.
The Coconuts Outrigger Canoe Club put a huge amount of effort into organising the event with 24 competing teams, many of which were local businesses. The races involved short sprints in the canoe with teams of six (two experienced Club rowers set the pace and steared the boats). ...better get training for next year team! |

Fiona George (Wet Tropics Landcare Facilitator), Tania Simmons (Lessons From Yasi Project Leader), Allan Dale (Ex CEO) and Taylor Dale (son), showed their strength to represent Terrain and bravely battled the a Bingle Bay team. They came a respectable 2nd place (OK, there were only 2 in the heat) and had a whole lot of fun doing it. Their spirit wasn't dampened by the loss as Tania Simmons said, "That was so fun - I just loved it!"
