Dear Members

As the year draws to a rapid close it is timely to reflect on the important messages we have received from members during the last month or so. Terrain has started an important discussion with its members and partner organisations – all part of continuing to build improved delivery and services for better natural resource management in the wet tropics. I really appreciated the time provided by representatives who attended the member forums and the AGM. I know that Board members appreciated the honest discussions with members at the AGM.

Along with Terrain staff, I look forward to talking to many other organisations unable to attend the forums and AGM as Terrain works hard to progress our understanding of community and NRM needs, perspectives and aspirations in the region.

One important section of this e-newsletter summarises the top ten NRM discussions raised throughout November. Broadly summarised under issues of member communications, funding and the NRM plan, I now have this list permanently on my desk as a reminder of improvements we can make. Having summarised the top ten concerns in no way diminishes other comments and issues raised, but we think it is important to provide a quick overview back to members outlining the critical issues.

I can identify with all your concerns and will be working closely with the Terrain Board in January to develop solutions and will respond to all members in February.
