Cairns Regional Council plays a fundamental role in planning and providing for the Cairns community. Servicing a population of over 150,000 across an area of nearly 1700km2 from Bramston Beach to Palm Cove, it delivers more than 400 services and functions. These range from roads and bridges, rubbish collection, water and sewerage to libraries, economic development, natural resource management and major community festivals. With the mission of “providing for today, preparing for tomorrow”, Cairns Regional Council is committed to planning for environmental, economic, social and cultural sustainability for the benefit of current and future generations.
